Size: 11½"

Rufus brown head, back and wings. White belly with dark brown streaks. Yellow eyes.

Voice: Twice repeated musical warbles. Call is a 'smacking' sound.

Breeds across Southern Canada from Alberta to Ontario. South through Eastern two thirds of the US to the Gulf and Florida.

We've had a Brown Thrasher off and on visiting our yard for three straight years. We've never seen more than one or seen a nest or young birds. Thrasher is a fence line bird very seldomly venturing away from it into the yard.
