Size: 6½-7¼"

Brown and black streaks above with gray below. Boldly striped head with yellow blotches between bill and eyes.

Voice: poor Sam Peabody

Range: Breeds from central Quebec and Newfoundland south to North Dakota and Pennsylvania. Winters in the Eastern United States.

A very pretty Sparrow which is always a nice change from our usual drab looking regulars. Like the White - crowned, the White Throated Sparrow really stand out and you can't miss them in a crowd of sparrows. Unfortunately both only pass through during migration.
