Size: 14-20"

Gray cap and back with orangish brown streaks on chest and bottom.

Voice: Repeated 'kacks'

Range: Breeds over entire US except Alaska and into southern Canada. Winters in the lower ¾ of the USA

Found in deciduous forests near clearings and farmlands. The Cooper's Hawk feed mainly on smaller birds which are chased and taken while in flight. Our young Cooper's Hawk used our yard as one of it's hunting grounds for most of last Winter. It had easy pickings with all the targets we were drawing with our feeders.
