Size: 5-6"
Blue-gray above, white underparts and face, black crown.
Voice: a nasal "yank-yank"
Range: From Nova Scotia south to the Gulf Coast, except for most of the Great Plains.
This bird is usually seen creeping headfirst down tree trunks. They are present at our
sunflower feeders all year round along with the chickadees and titmice. I may be imagining
things but I swear they yell at me when the feeders are empty.
